The resulting scar has a shape resembling the letter Y or T and runs along the inner side of the upper arm, just below the armpit, and at the junction of the inner and posterior parts of the arm.
The period of surgical recovery is 2–3 weeks, with full physical activity possible after 4 weeks.
The purpose of the procedure is to reduce the volume of the arms and tighten loose skin. In some cases, the result of the described surgery may be further improved by vibration-assisted tumescent liposuction performed in the immediate vicinity of the surgical area.
