The Orthopaedic Department provides a wide range of services in the following areas: general orthopaedics, special traumatology, and sports medicine with emphasis on the locomotorium. The department is visited for its arthroscopic surgery, which is carried out using the most modern laser technology. Its chief advantage for patients is particularly fast reconvalescence.

Post-operation examination is provided by the requested specialists (internist and anaesthesiologist) at a single workplace within two hours. The most suitable type of anaesthesia can be selected for the operation.
The orthopaedic services cooperate closely with the therapy department, x-ray department and neurological department. The orthopaedic workplace of Lekářský dům Praha 7, a.s. provides its services to a number of professional sportsmen and women and managers. On the basis of agreements with health insurance companies, Lekářský dům is able to provide health care to all its patients, who can then return as soon as possible to a normal, active life.
The operating rooms have modern equipment, are aseptic and have central air-conditioning with biological filtration. Post-operational care is provided by fully qualified health-care personnel with secondary school education, in a department with 8 beds with above-standard facilities. The orthopaedic department offers its clients consistent above-standard care in the framework of the subscription system through "Individual Subscription Cards".
A Holmiun laser with a wavelength of 2,1 microns, or a VAPR laser, is used for joint surgery, enabling treatment of cartilaginous and menisceal disorders with maximum care and precision. As the thermal effect of the laser beam penetrates to a depth of only 0.4 mm, the cut is highly accurate, with precise stoppage of bleeding. Compared to classical joint operations, this decreases the potential danger of post-operative risks. Lekářský dům provides post-operation rooms for monitoring persons undergoing operations under narcosis. Parents may stay by the bedsides of children.
